Ebony Nightshade has woken up in hospital with no memory of who she is, where she is, or how she got there. It turns out she has been in the hospital for quite a long time, though she has no idea what anyone is talking about when they try to explain. The thing is, she has no idea if she is actually awake. There is so much that does not make sense to her and she knows that she does not have a lot of time left wherever she is.

Deciding she does not want to forget her life again, if this reality is in fact real, Ebony begins writing down what happens to her as a story. She does not know why, it just feels right. She writes about the good, the bad, and the weird. All the while, she finds herself asking one question throughout her newfound life: is this real or fantasy?
