In a world where deer and wolves (who live as long as we do in this world) inhabit it as the dominant races, a new era is coming when Fizzilo, a young teenage buck hears the horrifying news that a murder has taken place in the kingdom of Stagerus, and he and a friend of his are suspected of being the killers.  The two bucks' must each decide what to do as the kingdom becomes more unstable.
