It's been a long 10 years, the most devastating and terrible years of his life, Lance McClain has seen it all. It started when he was young, too young to really know what was going on and why it felt so tense in the room. He sat on his biggest brother, Louise's lap, and had his sheriff's hat sitting atop his head as Louise bounced his knee up and down. Lance was only 6 years old.

His dad was in a comma in the hospital after being shot during battle, because he was the biggest strongest army man in the whole wide world, and he saves people... but daddy was taking a break to get healed up because even heroes get hurt. Plus his brother was a hero too! He was a sheriff and he had a golden badge to prove it.

Lance watched the TV and yawned as he snuggled closer into Louise. His older sisters, Veronica and Rachel and older brother Marco were all middle school and up. Rachel was in 6th grade, Veronica was in 9th grade, and Marco was in 12th. Louise lived with them still with his wife, Caroline, and his kids, Caleb and Sophia. Lance had a big family.

Suddenly the channel glitched and turned to the news channel, a man with white hair and beard looked insanely scared as two others stood by him. A woman with short purple hair and a man with slightly graying hair and beard stood behind the chair as the man sat down.

"Attention to everyone who is sitting and watching. Today is the dawn of a new era, a devastating one. We have been preparing for months. There are 8 safe places, New York City, NY, Los Angeles, CA, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, Philadelphia, PA, Phoenix, AZ, Jefferson City, MO, Tallahassee, FL. But an airborne disease has struck and this is the end of the world. The apocalypse has started. I advise as many as you can to go to a safe place... please."

It's up to Lance and his team to save the entire human existence.
