The Market of Flesh

The richest of us curl up under quilts of flesh come nighttime. At the dawn of morning these same people wake and bathe in a rejuvenating tub of warm blood. They then dress and accessorize their necks and ears in teeth, before eating their meals with utensils fashioned from gleaming, white bone.

The poorest of us sell our blood, sweat, and tears for the sake of survival, while those above profit from our pain. Then, there are also the scum of our world. They slaughter innocents in order to profit from the weight of their bones. They would rather cut the eye out of a friend's socket than refuse a pretty coin.

"Come to the Market of Flesh." The rich and the scum say. "We'll make you rich."

The rest of us know the truth though. "Come to the Market of Flesh and you'll sell more than your parts. You'll sell your life." We'll warn.

But like us, and like most, you won't listen. You will sell and then you will pay.
