"The sun that rises in the sky is not the first and will not be the last. I know this because she was reborn at the same time as I. She was created from the tears of Luna and Sols rage for her fallen sisters. I was remade from the bones of the old lords of Xibalba; the blood that runs through my veins from Quetzalcoatl himself. I am one of the five."

Alanis is one of the Five, one of the originals, one of the first to walk on Gaia during the fourth sun. With her four siblings she lives in La Ceiba, the tree that connects Xibalba to the heavens. They renounced the Gods and have taught men to follow their treacherous ways. Famine, illness, and dangerous Alux are just the beginning of what they have brought upon their world.

No longer willing to stand by and witness the destruction of mankind due to her sibling's blasphemy Alanis renounces her title and goes to live among men.

Centuries after her disappearance the story of creation and her existence are wiped from history. The Four have locked their selves away at the top of La Ceiba and have claimed the titles of Gods. As punishment for their blasphemy the Gods have sent creatures through the void to destroy Gaia. The only thing keeping them at bay is Chacal the king of Jaguars and the love the god Quetzalcoatl holds for Alanis.

Quetzal hears the cries from those that still follow the old ways and finds this the perfect opportunity to get what he has always wanted. Always one for games he offers Chacal an opportunity he cannot refuse. If he is able to complete five quests and bring Alanis along he will leash the creatures from the void. Determined to right her sibling's wrongs Alanis joins Chacal. Together they will have to overcome wandering spirits, cunning Alux, and venture through dangerous lands to collect the objects that Quetzal demands. Quetzals obsession with Alanis is what has kept them alive but Alanis' heart belongs to another, Quetzals brother Xolotl.

The gods are dead, but their corpses still breathe. From their decaying remains, nightmarish creatures roam free, cities crumble, and humanity clings to survival in a world that should have collapsed eons ago. Out of the rubble stands Ironhold, the last bastion of civilization, built on the bones of divinity and sustained by the blood of its hunters. Yet even within Ironhold's walls, a grim secret lurks... one that shatters every belief about what the hunters truly fight for. At the heart of this conflict are four unlikely survivors whose lives we follow throughout the unfolding chaos. Onyxia Ferris grew up on the streets, honing her blade to carve out more than just a living; Selene Vaelthorne shoulders the weight of past she can never outrun; Icarus Everhart is a force of reckless energy, haunted by shadows he refuses to acknowledge; and Dain Voss... the man who keeps cheating death... harbors mysteries that might unravel everything. Bound by fate and driven by desperation, these four hunters train and venture beyond Ironhold's gates to confront something far deadlier than any monster. The Five Cursed Witches: Volume 4 - Mirai, the Witch of Sight by High_Priestess_Elena
100 parts Complete Mature
Mirai comes from a long line of witches who have been particularly gifted in using their inner sight. As such, she's trained her sight from a young age. She's always been a disappointment, however, as the only thing she's ever been able to see is the vague image of a girl. On her 18th birthday, Mirai discovers a mark on the back of her neck displaying the number thirty. From her first proper vision, she deduces that unless she finds the girl before the number reaches zero, both of them will die. Only being able to depend on her less than mediocre skills in seeing the future, Mirai sets out to find the girl before the time is up. Little does she know of the trauma the girl has suffered, nor that finding her is only the beginning. ---------- Mature rating due to: smut, violence, suicide (happens in the prologue while POV-character has her back turned), rape (happens in chapter 30 and will be mentions of it afterwards, fade to black, there will NOT be a trigger warning at the beginning of the specific chapter), violent death of babies, some rather bloody scenes, self-harm, extreme guilt. Note that a major part of this story focus on healing from and learning to live with trauma, so though you could potentially read it but skip some specific parts, if you're not comfortable reading something that deals with the listed topics, then this book won't be for you. ---------- This series will contain the following volumes: Volume 1 - Zoe, the witch of innocence (completed) Volume 2 - Crimson, the witch of night (completed) Volume 3 - Morana, the witch of life (completed) Volume 4 - Mirai, the witch of sight (completed) Volume 5 - Danae, the witch of light Volume 6 - Rheseis, the faerie of love
A Song of Faithless Shadows by yourlocalsag
93 parts Complete Mature
Gwyneth had always felt connected to her faith, a higher power presiding over her. That faith had shaken that devastating day those years ago, the day that went on to haunt her every nightmare for years to come. She's still trying to come back from it, to not only restore her faith in life and love, but her faith in herself. The sanctity of her spirit- she prayed for resolve. Every punch was a prayer. Every mile was a hymn. Until her knuckles bled and her knees gave. Azriel had been surrounded by darkness his whole life, a poison on his world, on his being. He exercised restraint in his every waking moment, banishing that darkness within himself. Some guessed of the strain it put on him, but no one knew the extent of it, how deep his scars ran. It was better this way, he was sure. He had always thought that if there were a higher power- which he wholly doubted- such deities must loathe him to have burdened him such darkness. He hadn't much faith in the gods anyway, much less faith that he could sway their opinion on him. But Gwyneth and Azriel did have one thing in common: the quiet fight within themselves. They only knew one way: to go about it alone, couldn't fathom letting another in. But there's a magic in finding someone who is your equal but opposite, something transforming. And frankly, Gwyneth and Azriel could both use a little magic. All characters owned by SJM in the ACOTAR series. Story takes place after the events of ACOSF. Aligns with the events in my other fic: A Storm of Flames and Deceit. I haven't finished Crescent City, so this story takes place outside of the events of those books as well. CONTENT WARNING ⚠️ Mentions of r*pe, use of profanity, explicit content, sexual content, violence, torture, mentions of suicidal thoughts and depression, mentions of self harm

Completed. AzrielxFemale OC - Slow Burn, Fluff, Smut, Soft Az. Lots of Action/Story/Other character involvement. "Coming back is like swimming up to the surface. If you almost drowned already, it takes a while to feel safe taking a breath." The Shadowsinger gets distracted on a raid by a gentle natured female that appears out of place in the camp he's just taken over. He gets his job done, but takes critical moments to pull her aside and offer her refuge in his home city of Velaris. The risk of their conversation costs him, and the next few months are spent overcoming the repercussions, both physical and emotional. Dark magic swirls in Prythian, calling on spells more ancient than the High Lords and Ladies have seen in centuries and wreaking havoc on those who are too young to even recognize the source. A war is brewing and a quiet battle is already raging for the loyalty of the only healer in Prythian possessing the skills to identify and fight back against the sorcery. How will young and old, light and dark, pain and forgiveness, come together to save the land, and each other? Disclaimer: I own none of the characters or places referenced here.
