After their house burned down, and the king of the overpopulated village passed, a fair maiden Aphmau lives with her Aunt who secretly makes potions. Since the king died, the townsfolk have to choose between three men to become their ruler. One night Aphmau wanders outside and finds an Ultima feasting on a human body. Later on a king is chosen, and eventually falls in love with Aphmau, also including the Ultima. But who is the Ultima werewolf?

If following the volume of her beating heart was all it took to find her and get her out of the god awful living situation she was in, why didn't he come and get her sooner? Aphmau was a werewolf who drew the short stick in life. Her parents had tragically passed away and from then on, she was stuck living with the current leader of the Pheonix pack, Balto. His curse could turn a human to a werewolf or kill them with a single glimpse of his crimson eyes. Of course, that wasn't really the most annoying part of being the Ultima. The annoying part was the constant beating of his soulmates heartbeat that he could hear in his ears. All. the. Time. And he desperately wanted to meet them.
