My face neutral and my muscles disabled as I fell face-first into the hard, scathing rock that lay unmoved before me.] 》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ * 。° 。 • ˚《 Imagine awakening in an environment you deemed unfamiliar, your back thrumming in pain, with your mind staying clear of how you ended up there or simply the moments that lead to your position. You try to find a way out and later realize that you can't even remember who you are; your memories purged, your identity unknown. It takes you a good amount of time, pain, and effort, and eventually you manage to gather tiny fragments of who you were along with the trauma of how you retrieved it, but it's okay, maybe it's all worth it as you finally make contact with another person. Turns out she was your best friend. Finally, it looks like all is turning up until you learn of all the inhumane things you've done in your past, things that evade your newfound morals, things that were so detrimental to society that when you hear the reason as to why you've been enduring such agony, you understand why. How many people did you even end up hurting? What did you do that was so bad, that it made millions wish the absolute worst of you? What will you do now?

The first time Mira saw him, he was bleeding. A cold night. A flickering streetlamp. He sat on the curb, knuckles split, blood dripping onto the pavement like ink staining a page. She should have walked away. Should have pretended she didn't see him. But she didn't. Instead, she crouched beside him, her voice soft but steady. "Who did this to you?" He laughed-a low, bitter sound. "Does it matter?" Mira didn't know his name yet. But when their eyes met, something inside her recognized him. Not his face. Not his voice. His pain. Because she had the same kind buried in her bones. --- His name was Riven. And trouble followed him like a shadow. He never spoke about his past. Never explained the bruises. Never asked for help. But Mira saw the anger in his fists, the exhaustion in his shoulders. The war he fought every time he looked in the mirror. And despite herself, she stayed. Even when he told her to leave. Even when his darkness bled into her light. Even when she knew-this would destroy her. --- One night, he showed up at her door, drenched in rain, eyes empty. "I did something bad." Mira's breath caught. "What did you do?" Riven didn't answer. He just looked at her, jaw clenched, chest rising and falling like he was trying to breathe through whatever monster was clawing at his ribs. And she knew. It wasn't just a fight this time. It wasn't just another wound to clean up. He had crossed a line. And now, there were only two options-run, or drown with him. Mira should have been afraid. Should have shut the door, called the police, saved herself. But love made people stupid. So she stepped forward, wiped the blood from his cheek, and whispered, "Then we leave. Together." Because blood runs thicker than water. And love? Love was the thing that made you stay-even when you knew it would kill you.

It's not worth it anymore. The fighting, the hurt, the beatings. It was never going to be worth it. But for love...well love makes you stupid. And I loved him with all my heart. I met the real man who would save me. Like how Bell was saved from Gaston. Except she lived the high life and didn't fear for her existence after her first encounter. After my first encounter with Axel, and a dreamy one-night stand. The only option for me was to stay away from him and keep to Marcus. But Marcus is destroying me. *** "Don't you dare tell me how easy it is to leave and abusive relationship when you've never been in one, Axel!" Tears poured down my cheeks and all I wanted to do in that moment was crawl into the same hole I should never have crawled out from and die. "And I was heartbroken, and scared and anxious. I was worried and I felt weak, and I had no idea how I was ever going to come up with the strength. But I just closed my eyes and took a blind leap. I found you, Cordilia and I'll be dammed if I let that asshole take you away from me."
