It had been three years since my language learning had begun. Somewhere along the way I adopted the dream of visiting the beautiful island of Taiwan. That dream had finally become a reality, but instead of feeling like I could dive into the culture and language of the land, I felt apprehensive, uneasy. This is my autobiographical memoirs: Born in China, I grew up in the Chinese ghetto of Saigon, a back water community of the world. This is the story of how I was educated and gradually grew to realize that there was a wide world outside, learned to love writing, found a chance to go to college in Taiwan, discovered a way to come to America, got a graduate education in journalism here, built a career, grew a family and finally enjoying my retirement while continued to learn now things .
