It had been three years since my language learning had begun. Somewhere along the way I adopted the dream of visiting the beautiful island of Taiwan. That dream had finally become a reality, but instead of feeling like I could dive into the culture and language of the land, I felt apprehensive, uneasy. What secrets are hidden deep inside your dreams? Would you be able to tell your friends? What if you could show them instead? 'Apparatus to Superimpose Dream-Space Onto Reality Using Theta Waves' was patented some time before the War by a technology company in Shenzhen, but never caught on. Now that the patent has expired, hobbyists are building their own and learning what friendship and boundaries mean when you can let someone explore your innermost thoughts. Written as a smaller personal challenge during NaNoWriMo 2020. Loosely inspired by my experience growing up in a small Canadian town as the Web was just starting to catch on.
