As a writer, I feel kindred with a type of poetry classified as "Witness poetry"--poetry that bears witness to an event, time, place, etc. As an American, lesbian woman who considers herself a civil rights activist and a feminist, I feel it is important to bear witness to the rising fascism, hatred, division, and rising misogyny in my country.
This is something I wrote as an exercise for my university poetry class when learning about witness poetry. Also, if I end with trolls adding negative and hurtful comments, they will be reported and deleted. I will not stand for hate, bigotry, misogyny, racism, or discrimination of any kind.
