Deraj lives in New York, or to be more specific the back streets of New York. He’s African American, which makes life a lot harder. He fends for himself, moves around a lot and earns his life through stealing. His life of living on the streets taught him a lot of things, Girls mean nothing, Boys should be tough and Black and white people don’t mix. But none of that matters, its winter and its cold and all he has is rags. One cold night huddled against the back door of an old café he see’s no future, so he walkes down to the docks ready to dive in and never resurface when he see’s a girl sitting on the edge with the same ready to die expression as himself. Slowly he creeps himself into her fancy, ball gown life and learns all her secret. As romance starts to fall into place, so do questions. Can someone like him really make a life like her or will the chances be too great.
