Gideon sees dead people. All the time. And it's a pain in his ass.

All he wants to do is drink his beer, screw his woman, watch his television, and die. And maybe not in that exact order. But instead, he's called to do what all those "blessed" in his family are told they must. Assisting in the passing over of disgruntled spirits sounds like it would be an emotionally rewarding endeavor, but it is mostly just tiresome as hell. Dealing with the angels and demons that govern limbo is just as shitty as the rest of the gig.

Then there's the downside that no one warned him about. Neglecting his duties results in the unwelcome, unsettling arrival of a package in his mailbox. The deck of tarot cards on the inside filled with strange symbols and warnings, and a note.

"The Hierophant is watching you."

Suddenly, there's a brand on his wrist that threatens to claim his life if he doesn't figure out what the enigmatic Hierophant wants from him. If the strange mass of dark energy flitting around the city doesn't kill him first.

So maybe dying isn't all that high on his list anymore.
