When Tessa's mother died shortly after giving birth her, Cade needed some help. Tessa needed a female in her life to look up too, and he wasn't ready to jump into any relationship. So he thought of the next best thing. He thought it wasn't a terrible idea, since he would be giving a home to someone who needed it. So he adopted Naomi.
