For the booksmart yet naïve 16-year-old Nicky, high school in her quaint little hometown island in the Philippines had always been predictable. Until that senior year. Nicky thought she got things all figured out. She'd be very good at school and be the valedictorian of the single-section class of 2010 of the highly looked-up science high school in their island. And then, she'd get a full scholarship to her dream university. All was fairly well except for a few things like grappling her feelings towards a long-time crush. Just when Nicky thought she could get through high school without too much boy-drama, a somewhat seemingly love life with a boy or two and suddenly, maybe even three was finally catching up with her during the last few months before high school graduation. She had never thought she could be wrong about a person. And that she could always be wrong about boys... ✨✨✨ Sidenote: I wrote this from November 2010 to April 2011, only a year ahead from the time set in the novel. This was fully uploaded on Wattpad in September 2013 for safekeeping. I hadn't gotten back to it in so many years nor find any means and time to promote it. Evolution
There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. He would never take advantage of me like that..." I couldn't have been more wrong. Love in this day and age is often confused for manipulation and abuse. The warning signs are here. The things we say will tell us everything that is wrong. You are worth more than what you think you are. It's not your fault. If they tell you otherwise, get out. Burn the bridge. Always remember someone is waiting for you to walk into their life. Someone needs you. Someone loves you. Getting away from all of the wrong people and finding the right ones could save you. I can promise you right now that it saved me. These are the journal entries and selected poems from my first experience of love that left a unpleasant taste in my mouth- quite literally. I am putting this out for the whole world to see because I hope everyone will learn from my experience. People can see. We have no excuses to continue living our lives in ignorance. ...WARNING...
