In the future, where mutations have taken over DNA, everyone has some kind of ability. There are pyrokinetics, telekinetics... Carys' parents were both telepathics. The only problem is... she isn't one. Carys isn't anything. She is one of the people in society that are considered Impurities, a person who doesn't have an ability. Impurities are considered dangerous and Unpredictable, and are taken away from their families to be isolated in a quarantine, then executed once they turn 18.
