Why have no humans walked on the moon since 1972? That's 46 years without any manned moon missions, so why have we not returned to the moon?
Why have no bases or cities been built on the moon? Why was the space shuttle never sent anywhere, but just hung around the Earth? 
Why did the Russians, Europeans, and the Japanese not send their own manned missions to the moon? Why have the Chinese and the Indians also been dragging their feet too on manned missions to space or the moon? 
But why then since 1972 have the Americans, Russians, Europeans, Japanese, Chinese, and Indians have been spending billions upon billions of dollars in launching unmanned moon probe crafts into space to collect more and more information on the moon? What are these governments afraid of? What did they find up there? What is going on up there? 
Why is NASA and so many different types of scientists are planning on great manned missions to Mars, but no great plans to return to the moon? Is there a past history humans have with the moon that is unknown to us today? Why are we not even trying to use the moon as a jumping off point for manned missions to Mars? 
Why? Why? Why? 
What are The Knowing keeping from The Unknowing about the secrets of the moon?

|WATTYS 2022 WINNER - HORROR| Shawn, a convicted criminal, never thought she'd see the sun again, let alone call another star system her home. When she's offered an out from her prison sentence, she embarks on a dangerous interstellar expedition along with 18 of Earth's most intelligent criminals. Their task is to set up a base on a supposedly habitable planet and prepare it for colonization. Although the planet has liquid water and a breathable atmosphere, it is believed to host only microbial life. However, upon arriving, Shawn and the rest of the colonists learn that assumption was grossly incorrect. In a brutal attack from rampaging wildlife, everyone but Shawn and four other colonists are killed. The five survivors retreat to the cavernous network beneath the ground seeking safety, but they soon come to a terrible discovery. These caves aren't ordinary caves, and they are no safer down under than they were on the surface. [][][] This was originally my entry for the 2021 Open Novella Contest, and it received an honorable mention! It has now been expanded into a full length novel. I used prompt number 53: "When wildlife starts rampaging, all the humans are forced underground. However, they come to a terrible discovery that being underground is no safer than being on the surface."

For years the federal governments from all the nations on earth has been secretly investing and contributing with each other on space and military developments without the population of their countrymen knowing about what they ( the government ) was doing, and now the secrets might pay off now that every country on earth has no choice but to come together as one people. The USA ( not the United States ) has built four star ships in the past ten years at Space Station United in space a few hundred miles behind Space Station Freedom . Through the years moon bases have also been built on the moon, and now paper and coin currencies are completely gone. Everyone on Earth has one card with a chip in it that has everything about you on it and the new currency for everyone is credit and bits.

"Yes, however, this mission did not require your presence nor your opinion," he replies candidly. My eye twitches and wordlessly, I turn away once more but his grip on my arm returns, this time more gentle, as if pleading rather than restraining. "I only meant that this mission did not require you to accompany me as my OA in pretence. It's safer to stay with your younglings out of sight anytime the role is not needed," his voice softer. "You disappeared after you..." I pause and shake my head. I feel embarrassed to say it out loud to him. I feel embarrassed at how much it affected me.
