To think that a memory that was once forgotten would entice a pain of such sorrow. Life would be but an easy journey if one were to experience only happiness and this story allows for no such joy to occur. When one was to ponder on the mistakes in one's life it would not be long till the horrors of war that you had inflicted upon others resurfaced. The Battle in the Fields is based on a short creative writing piece of the same nature, written by myself in an English exam. It brings the harsh realities of guilt and disrupted piece that we all wished we had never experienced. The Battle in the Fields: a story no one wishes to experience but is needed to be shared to fully understand the painful mind of a man who only wishes to remember... No journey starts without first knowing the problem from which you face...

She used to believe in fairytales-the kind of love that felt like fate, like something out of the romance novels she hid under her bed as a kid. But reality hit hard, and instead of finding her prince, she found herself in the military, where discipline and duty leave little room for daydreams. Between grueling training, impossible expectations, and the weight of responsibility, love was supposed to be the last thing on her mind. But when feelings start to creep in-unexpected, inconvenient, and all too real-she's faced with the hardest battle yet: balancing the life she chose with the love she's always wanted. Because in her world, there are no fairytale endings. Or are there?
