Dark Petals (A Hades and Persephone story)
A retelling of the myth of Hades and Persephone -- For as long as Persephone can remember it has always been her and her mother. Until one day, a stranger appears, causing her to have unfamiliar feelings-her world changes when her mother persuades her to go to the Underworld with him. In a place much different than the sheltered one she is used to, she will learn things about herself that were unknown even to her. Will she learn to embrace them or shy away from them altogether? Hades has always been content to remain in the Underworld, ruling over the dead just as intended. He learned to settle for what he had been given long ago. But after an unplanned visit to his sister, he may have just changed his mind. Will his new guest embrace the darkness of his world, or will he remain within it alone for eternity? #4 in Hades and Persephone category 7/14/2019 ***Update! Guys, Dark Petals is now complete and available on Amazon including ebook (free through kindle unlimited) and paperback! There were some chapters added including an epilogue. I would love for you guys to check it out. If not for you guys I don't know if this story would have been completed. It started out as something I wrote for fun when I was stressed. The Queen Below
A retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth, a story of fate, the struggle for power, and love found in the most unexpected places. ***** Persephone has been raised in Olympus all her life - her mother absent, her father a cruel king, with her siblings teaching her all they know. She has seen all of what the gods and goddesses do and she is sick of it. When she learns her safety is threatened by staying in Olympus, she flees to the Underworld. There she stays until she learns that her leaving has caused the world to wilt. But leaving behind her newfound friends and Lady of the Underworld is something she will not do willingly, no matter the consequences. "Jealous?" "Why would I be?" "Because I know your fantasies." He argued. I leaned closer to him, smelling his overwhelming scent. "And I'm appalled at how they are just that. Fantasies." He smiled and leaned closer, piercing through my eyes with the blue of his. I wanted to grab the dagger beneath my pillow and kill him already. "Are you now?" He answered, coming dangerously close to me. He brought his hand up to lift my chin, our noses touching. Gods, help me. I want nothing to do with this man. I really don't. He hates me, and I hate him. Our banter is not just banter; there's always a sense of truth in between, and that's what makes it all the more addicting. - THE GOD is the master of death and darkness. Lore, previously known as Hades, rarely ever visited the mortal realm. As the gods get involved in a war against the rebellious uprising amongst the dark angels, he must work together with a group of immortals, a ruthless and serpentine assassin being one of them. THE SHADOW is a half-breed. Left destitute at seven and made a killer eleven years later, she leaves destruction and death wherever she walks the mortal realm. Forced into a team unit as punishment for her insolent behavior, she must work with the god she grew to admire and learned to hate. Alliances built on lies and hatred are inevitable to fall.
