"So, what d' ya say?" The old man asks, as he offered Jack the bundle of cloth. It looked heavy, he had to use both his hands to keep it up. How was expecting the boy to carry it? He had to think for a few seconds. Was he ready for such a responsibility? Why was the old man even offering it to him? He should've chosen someone more trustworthy. But who in their right mind would've said no to such an offer? Jack sighed and hesitantly nodded, as the old man grinned at him with a trusty smile. He dropped the egg into his hands and Jack could barely keep from falling over. It was heavier than it looked. he could feel the heat radiating from it, and a very faint, rhythmic thumping as well. "Well then, goo' luck with yer new lil' friend!" The old man grinned at Jack and ushered him out of his wooden cottage. The door shut behind him, and only now did Jack realize, what had happened. What had he gotten himself into?
