Faith's life is slowly starting to crumble away. With a devil for a mother, and friends who don't understand, what better way to escape than to leave it all behind? Packing up few belongings- and her phone of course- Faith travels down to Warren, Detroit; a completely different area than her life than Sterling Heights. But will this new Michigan environment settle the pain that's beginning to blaze? Faith knows that whatever the cost, she must pay it, so when an unfortunate event lands her in a park in the middle of the night, an unexpected stranger turns her world upside down. Could she be hauled back into the life she so easily escaped those couple of years ago? Or could she be starting a new one altogether...?

She's Chicago royalty. He's a Detroit legend. Neither of them are looking for anything-until grief recognizes grief. Vanessa Dalton was born into legacy. Heiress to the Chicago Bears, she was raised in private suites, gala ballrooms, and under the public's careful eye. Her world is all bright lights and clean lines. Her boyfriend is a hometown hero. Her smile is flawless. Her heart is not. Marshall Mathers isn't trying to be seen. Two divorces behind him and a career that changed the face of music, he knows what people want from him-and who they miss. But the version they want isn't the man in the mirror anymore. He's a father now, quieter, older, haunted in ways the stage never fixed. They meet in a stadium suite on game day. She shakes everyone's hand. She just nods at him. He's ready to look away-until she doesn't look at him like anyone else does. He doesn't know her brother was a fan. She doesn't know how often he thinks about the boy he used to be. She's grieving the past she couldn't save. He's grieving the version of himself he can never go back to. It's not love. Not at first. It's something quieter. Older. Slower. But sometimes the slowest burns are the ones that smolder hardest-and longest. "You lost someone, didn't you?" "Yeah. So did you." In the end it's Him & I.
