Ethan is engaged to the oh so wonderful August. The eight years spent away from Alexander must have dissolved his feelings, maybe if he didn't go to college they would have stayed together. Or maybe his feelings aren't gone.
Alexander has a weird feeling about August. Something is wrong, there has to be a secret. Is he jealous of Alexander and Ethan being close or is it something more serious? All he knows for sure is that he does not want Ethan and August to get married. He has to figure out a way to break them up. But he can't hurt Ethan in the process.
