This work is an extended review of The Guns of Normandy by George Blackburn in honour all Canadian soldiers who died in Normandy 75 year ago and those who gave their lives more than 100 years ago in the first world war. It describes the brutal battles with the elite infantry and tank divisions of the German Wehrmacht (arguable the best trained and equipped army in the world) after the Normandy D-Day landings.

The British, Canadian and American tanks were totally outclassed by the German Panther and Tiger tanks. The British Sten gun was very unreliable compared to the German MP 40 (Schmeisser) but the speed and response of the British and Canadian artillery was far superior to the German's.

The campaign was ultimately decided by Hitler's (the German dictator) strategic errors, the overwhelming allied air superiority and the tactical ingenuity and courageous determination of the allied aircrews, gunners, tankers and infantry.

I do not claim copyright to any part of this work in the hope that others may publicize George Blackburn's superlative books: - Where the Hell are the Guns, The Guns of Normandy and The Guns of Victory.

They are available from:-

You may also find all three books at your local library.

The cover shows a 25 pounder field gun being hooked up to its limber which is attached to the quad (four wheel drive truck).

(Still correcting for errors!) The German soldier goes through many things during his time at war, love, horror, and fear. But every soldier of any side knows that there's only one way out. He'll have to survive the new technologies of warfare. A soldier's greatest strength is bravery and moral that grows and lives in the soul. Soldiers test their strength in battle, the strong ones die as the weak ones run. War is an experience that is limited. We all don't know what it's really like. When you look at a soldier that has been at war, you can see it, its written on their faces and engraved in their eyes. A World War Two fiction story about a young man named Albert Schroeder, a twenty one year old German soldier of the Wehrmacht, has been sent to Western Russia to fight the Soviet Union in the summer of June 1944. In military training in Northern Germany, he meets another soldier named Kurt Smith. Kurt has been his friend since military training until his death in a battle against the Soviets during the early night. After Kurt's death, Albert faces many problems with another death of one of Kurt's friends from high school, Ralph Schäfer that he had just met. Albert will then be taken to a place many soldiers of his kind have gone before, a Russian P.O.W camp and might stay there for most of the war until it is over or will Albert try to escape during the night and go on a huge journey back to Germany? (A/N: The main military faction I'm using is called the 'Union of American Continents'. You can find it my story book titled 'My Military Factions' to know more. The main character I'm using is a familiar OC of mine named John S. Grant. You can find him in my story book titled 'My Hero Characters' to learn more.) ========== The United States of America... is dead. Due to Special Order 191 being a huge success, the Confederacy is able to overrun the Union and win the Civil War. With help from Britain and France, the CSA now become an independent nation but soon are locked into a Cold War against the USA. As the decades went on and the CSA grew in power, both American countries have fought multiple wars against one another, each time the Confederacy kept on winning. It was only during WW2 did the CSA finally destroyed the USA and completely annexed the northern country into their territory, leading to the formation of the United Confederacy of America. Soon, under a new and more dangerous regime, the UCA essentially betrayed their own allies in the form of 'liberating' them. Using tactics and strategies, along with superior firepower and technology, they're able to control most of the world in just over a decade. Russia and China become the last free nations in world as the surviving militaries and civilians make their last stand in what could only be described as an inevitable defeat. However, just as all hope seemed lost, a prayer for a miracle is answered. In what could only be described as an act of God, UCA discovered a portal being opened in China and tried to invade the other side, only for their armies to be brutally pushed back. It was here the Confederacy is forced to fight against an enemy they thought they exterminated during the Civil War. An enemy that would spell doom for their nation and give hope to those enslaved by their nation. That enemy... being the Union of American Continents. ========== Pairing: John S. Grant x Harem
Wildflowers In The Ruins: A 1917 Story by Snowdropsdream

Completed fan fiction for the film 1917: This is the very first fan fiction I've ever attempted. Please be kind. I hope you like it. It features all of the main characters, several of the others, plus many I've created. Northern France, April 1917: A Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse is sent on an urgent mission across no-man's land accompanying two Lance Corporals, but she will have her own mission to fullfil also and be tested in ways she never deemed possible. Each chapter is named after a flower, relevant to the story, and that you can encounter growing in the wild, either in Britain or Northern France, with the exception of roses and Sweet William's. This story does contain spoilers from the film so it's really worth watching it first. Chapers two (from around halfway through) to eight I've taken directly from the film. The script is copyrighted to Sam Mendes and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, although I've worked from what's spoken in the film rather than off the script. I've taken inspiration from other films, television and books (fiction and non-fiction) set in the First World War too such as Forgotten Voices, The Roses Of No-Man's Land, War Horse, The Crimson Field, Private Peaceful, They Shall Not Grow Old, Testament Of Youth, Journey's End and Birdsong. I've also taken inspiration from the beautiful book A Song For Will which is based on the true story of the gardeners and labourers from the Heligan Estate in Cornwall. Every character who isn't featured in the film 1917 is fictitious and the names are entirely made-up, although every female character's Christian name in my story belongs to a female relative of mine who was alive at the time of the First World War, for example my four Great-grandmothers were Mary-Jane, Lavinia, Ada and Alice. The other names were from my Great and Great-Great-Aunts. Enjoy. ❤ 🌺 ☘ 🌻 💖 🍂 🌿 🌼 💗 🌲 🌸 🍃 💕 🌹 🌱 ⚘💝 🌳 🏵 💮 💌 🌾 💐 🍁 💞 🍀

Overview 🦘My story will take you through my Army experiences including the dreadful inhumane mess that was the Vietnam War. Vietnam was mostly unknown to Australia before the war and whilst it is now a popular tourist destination, little is known about the war and our involvement in it. My involvement concluded with severe PTSD and a shocking journey into memory loss and a foray into the outback of Australia. Following the Vietnam disaster and my struggle with mental stress, my story will take you through my role as a recruit Instructor during national service years at the training battalion near Wagga NSW. Then a transfer to the Military Police which involved mainly training roles with the Corps and in a now forgotten loan of Australian Military Police to the British Army during the height of the troubles involving the Irish Republican Army and the Cold War security of what was West Germany whilst attached tithe British Army of the Rhine. My 20 years in the regular Army concluded as a Warrant Officer Class One. I followed on for 2 years as a training Warrant Officer in the Citizen Military Forces. Then it's onwards to read about my scary upbringing in the following 'Journey to war' story which relates my upbringing by a hateful mother culminating in an amazing journey to an extremely remote cattle station as a 12 year old. That experience presented a hard life, a huge learning curve and included a saga which now seems surreal, was this me or a movie I once saw. As is said, 'wait there's more' including the S.A public service, a dreadful shock to the system after I sneaked in as a training officer. As well, a period as a training consultant and ten years in mining management. Then life struck hard as you will understand if you decide to read on. So ! this is me, surviving Polio, being booted out of home and stranded in a lonely city far from home, later lost in the wilderness of the great outback, the trauma and legacy of personal loss.

The story of Jason is an odd one, his story is one that involves multi-dimensional travel, combat, and the reoccurring bad situation. That is only the tip of the iceberg, unfortunately, this story cannot be told from just one view... but through the views of his friends (war mongers, vigilantes, heroes, metal heads, and soldiers) and new found allies. With a wonder device that Jason steals, while trying to adjust after a bad court martial, he finds the Mysterious land known only as the Neutral Dimension. Once there... Instead of finding fame and fortune as he sought, he instead finds a whole new set of problems. With a place filled with histories past and the present interconnected, he finds that war, violence, espionage, and robbery cannot fall off his repertoire even in a place of peace. He finds himself with only a few options... but that is where I need to stop talking and you need to start finding out. Word to the wise: this is not a story for the faint of heart or ill of intellect. Instead a story that will expand and contract the way one thinks... this book contains conspiracy, murder, extreme violence, extreme vulgarity, themes of war, twists, gore, racing, use of drug and alcahol, sexual themes, sex, GUNS, unsuitable terminology, dimensional theory and use of dimensional travel, and historical concepts that may not be suitable for children and some adults... BUT, if this does not taint or deture you from a good read... then by all means... Enjoy! "In the end, our choices make us" -Andrew Ryan
