["Perhaps the cruelest twist of fate yet was that even the family you'd finally made for yourself was still one that you could not keep."] *** Five years and five months. It has been just over five years and five months since the reader and Spencer last saw each other, and now, at last reunited with a daughter just as bright as her parents, both of them are ready to finally start their lives together as a family... But when has the reader's life ever been so simple, and when has fate ever been so forgiving? Neither the reader nor Spencer is the same person they were all those years ago, and after struggling to pick up where they left off, they must determine whether love alone is reason enough to be together. Meanwhile, as the influence of past corruption still runs rampant in the bureau, the reader slowly learns that she might not be as safe as she initially believed. Because this time, she has more than just herself to worry about. Because this time, she has absolutely everything to lose. Because this time, Samuel will stop at nothing to exact his revenge, and he knows exactly what to take in order to finally destroy her.
