For two years, a string of homicidal drownings of teen girls terrorized a small, lonely Minnesotan town on the coast of Lake Superior. Once a close-knit community, Midpointe drastically changed overnight as everyone turned into suspects and a generation of girls are locked behind closed doors. No one was ever charged. A fifteen-year-old Lylah Lovelace was the one that found the first victim, one of her childhood best friends. The murders along with general small-town restlessness drove her out of town just hours after her high school graduation, swearing never to look back. Now 22 and fresh out of college, Lylah figures its time to face her ghosts and reluctantly agrees to return for the summer to watch her sister while their parents go on a cross-country RV trip. Just as the town and Lylah feel as if they might be recovering, another body shows up. And the killer might be closer to Lylah than she could ever imagine.
