We are Skyples; people who were born and live in the Stratosphere following a NASA experiment to see if humans could live long-term in orbit. The original Skyples were born in our city from NASA scientists and other human volunteers. Skyples live in the Skyple Mothership, Skyopolis, which orbits the Earth. We live on something that humans would describe as a strange UFO. Our unique orbiting city is powered by access to the red sprites and blue jets that occur in the Stratosphere. This is the place it all started. We made friends, trusted our enemies, and ruined everything! Or so we thought. The humans who landed on the little planet had nearly lost all hope until they stumbled upon unknown ancient ruins beneath the planet's surface where they discovered untold amounts of bizarre advanced technology. Earth and humanity were saved, and the little planet to thank for their salvation was named Umbra. Alice is a xenoarchaeologist, her passion in life has always been the study of ancient cultures, and now she has the opportunity to study the most ancient one of them all. The very one that modern Human civilization was built on. Alice and her boyfriend accepted a posting on the famous and ancient ship, the U.S.S.A Umbra.

Two people fall in love in unlikely circumstances. They have a lot of psychological issues and mistrusts in the order of things to prevent them from finding themselves and each other. I am a reader of crime novels and hard science fiction almost exclusively, and yet this story, which I have been writing for a long time, is a love story, I can't explain it even to myself. The characters will have to work through hardship and evolve to be able to surrender to the magical things around them and the flow of the universe and the love of other people. This story still is a work in progress, it has holes and it is to be continued
