2560, a ring like structure has been found in uncharted space by a human exploration ship. They reported the structure as, "A giant ring, with what looks like an Earth like surface, with water, mountains, and grass, with the outside gray frame pulsating with blue lights." Everyone in the surrounding area tried to track the ship and contact them. They were never heard from again.

The UNSC traced the signal to unknown coordinates, and are enroute to establish contact, as they believe the ring structure to be a Halo ring. A dangerous weapon built by Forerunners to wipe out the galaxy, and ran by Covenant. I am a marine, designation Sierra Mike 115, my squad and I will be one of the first to touch down on the ring. Godspeed.

Combat Evolved is the first book of my main series known as 'Halo Battle Buddies' and will lead up to the first game and beyond. This story is a "what if scenario" and unique take on an idea that the creators of Halo original made for a draft to how Halo 2 was supposed to end during the designing phase of the videogames. (When Halo 2 was the "last game" and Halo 3 wasn't supposed to exist due to the current development schedules at the time). That idea being how Master Chief and Commander Miranda Keyes were supposed to have a "romantic relationship" at the end of the game, but scrapped it due to it making no sense for this to even happen. So, this story about this concept of an unlikely relationship with Master Chief and Commander Miranda Keyes and will recreate it to be more complex and expand this scrapped idea and potential make something of it. Ultimately, during the darkness of war, the time for companionship is an afterthought as time passes and chaos continues. Will this unlikely duo that being the legendary Spartan 2 Master Chief and UNSC Commander Miranda Keyes grow closer together against such darkness against the Covenant, or fall victim as many have before them.
