A collection of short stories with one elaborate overarching plot line.
Demons, cults, missing people, long forgotten gods, familiars, sentient houses- the town of Redwater, formerly a completely normal small town with nothing peculiar about it save maybe their frighteningly high gas prices, turns their attention to 14 year old Aksha as she seems to save them from problems that may or may not stem from her own anomalous life.

Beasts, birds, serpents, and even dragons-if they carry any trace of animal blood, she can feel them, speak with them, and most importantly... understand them. When strange creatures begin appearing near the village-half-forgotten beings from ancient myths-Soula discovers that something is calling to them. And somehow, they all seem to be looking for her. As whispers of an ancient war between beasts and men rise again, Soula must decide whether to hide her gift or embrace it and step into a destiny far greater than she ever imagined.
