14-year-old orphan Kendall Whitmore is plagued by her autism; after being ostracized at her school for her unusual behavior, she runs out on her graduation ceremony and then her grandmother suggests to her brother and guardian that she come live with her in order to have a better school experience. Not liking change and hoping to turn things around, Kendall volunteers at a dog shelter where she quickly forms a bond with the dogs and with the people working there as well. But she realizes that their bond may not last as a greedy developer is looking to shut down the shelter! It is a teen fiction story about handling change, friendship, and finding yourself in the most unexpected places.Complete
