"There's something you're not telling me," you murmur, willing your voice to be stronger than you feel. "Something you won't be able to hide forever."
He swallows thickly, eyes darting across his desk. "And if there is?"
You take a shaky breath, head tipping upwards. He raises his eyes, something between a plea and a warning darkening them. You place a hand on the doorknob.
"Then I hope you choke on your own silver tongue."
----
You told yourself you wouldn't go back to him.
With your heart in his back pocket, he left you in the dust, up and leaving you with less than a moments notice. One second, he's your best friend and the person you trusted most, the next, he's a stranger which you loathe. At least that's what you classify him as.
You told yourself you wouldn't think of him ever again.
Out of sight, out of mind, right? You took a page from his book, and shoved the past away, refusing to look back. He was nothing more than a bad memory. At least that's what you want to remember him as.
You told yourself you wouldn't care about him.
But you always were a bad liar. That boy still held your heart, no matter how badly you wished otherwise. And you of all people know how hard it is to push Brendon Urie out.
"How was your little nap, sleeping beauty?" Brendon appeared suddenly.
I didn't answer. He started to walk toward me, and kneeled down to my level. I spat in his face, causing him to slap me.
"Feisty one, I see. Well, we're going to have to fix that won't we?" He wiped my spit off of his cheek.
How the fuck didn't I see this coming?
And how am I not strong enough, yet I am at the same time?
