Major Abhilash Negi is the head of the attacking unit at 22nd Batallion of North Indian Cavalries (Gorkha Rifles).

He is one of the most powerful army men and is very down to earth. His contingent follows all his orders and he is very friendly with everybody.

His family is more than happy when he marries his childhood love Dia Bhatt, after two years of service in the Indian Army.

A child is born to the couple. They name him 'Adarsh' meaning 'ideal'. The family is living a very blissful life.

Until one day...

Major receives a call stating he has to lead his battalion in an insurgency hit district in Jammu and Kashmir.

But his wife never knew this was the last time her child would see his daddy.

Kriti, a journalist, interviews the family a year after Major Abhilash's death, as he is to receive the Paramvir Chakra (the most renowned award for an army man in India) on the eve of Republic Day, which leads to revelations only an army man's family can know.

Read the book to watch Dia recount the horrors her husband faced and more horrifyingly, the family of the Late Major.
