Chance is a strange thing when lonely junior Marilyn Halsala stays up one night and somehow befriends one of her town's, Shavonn's, local crime-fighting magic-users, Sorcerer. She finds that he's not so serious when he's not using his magic to protect others, and that he's like her- he just doesn't quite fit in with the other heroes like Mari doesn't at school.
Both of them know it's dangerous for them to be seeing each other. The Blessed, a group that believes that people without powers are unworthy, are at large, hiding in plain sight, and with the Sorcerer, Moon, being the one that always stops them, there is likely a large target on his and anyone associated with him's back.
Mari and Moon don't want to give up the friendship they've found, but can they hide it from the Blessed or Mari's overprotective mother?
"I trust you, Moon."

Based off a oneshot that I have to submit to Scholastic Writing Competition for Language Arts class. The first part is the original and I plan to rewrite + add to the story without a 3000 word limit.

The original short won a Silver Key in the local and/or regional competition!
