The Great Fall

It is April, 1945. Nearly the end of the Second World War. In the midst of cold and dreary weather, the German Reich has mostly collapsed. Most soldiers both regular 'Heer' (army) and Waffen-SS have surrendered. The high ranking German officers, including Adolf Hitler, have either committed suicide or fled Germany. In the west, the Americans, Canadians, British, and French forces have taken the last bridge over the Rhine River and the area around the Elbe River. But in the east, the Soviet Red Army is within striking distance of the heart of Germany, Berlin. The citizens of Berlin and other cities in Germany have either escaped the combat or joined the Volkssturm, a German partisan force, to fight the invading Allies. This story is told through the eyes of a young man in the German 'Heer' who still chooses to fight the Soviet Russians.
