Twins Alvin and Kaylee Freck are the best Monstrumologists in Rotterfeldt (only ones, really, but who's counting?). When they are enlisted by the Rotterfeldt police force concerning a blood-spattered room and a missing/dead socialite, the twins go to work to find what could have could have caused this. The clues lead to a much bigger endgame, however, with contradicting evidence piling up.
