The fact that the team just recovered from the "Fuzzy goo invasion", and being promoted to captain, isn't really helping much with the captain's personal problems. It's been nine months since escaping the Deepsea Metro, defeating tar-tar, and saving Inkoplois things seemed to have finally calmed down for the team. Agent 8 now free is now living his new life on the surface, working, going on missions, and his favorite thing getting to spend time with 3. 3 is enjoying spending time with 8, but after going on a research mission in the Deepsea Metro she notices 8 acting strange. She found him mumbling to himself, he's having nightmares, being more claggy to 3 than normal, and swears that she caught a flash of teal in his eye. It couldn't be that bad... till 8 goes missing. The team is on the case to find him but sometime into the search Inklings sharing some of 3's similarities are getting attacked and 3's apartment gets ransacked. It's clear 8 is after 3 and if he finds her, he's not letting her go.

Being on many missions herself, fighting Octolings like him, she can't help but get the feeling that something about him isn't quite right. Agent 8 feels unsure and unwelcomed to the city as he is forced to hide his identity as not all inklings accept Octolings into their home. Not only that, but he also has a problem with getting along with Agent 3! But what happens if a mysterious, unknown threat comes toward the surface, threatening to destroy both Inkling and Octoling kind alike? Can the agents work together to save their race?
