Sojiro's Son (Overwatch AU)

A few years before the Venice Incident, Gabriel Reyes was on a mission in Japan, and to complete this, he had to contact Sojiro Shimada to obtain details, although they were planning to abolish the clan of their illegal activities later on in the future. Regardless, Gabe had sworn to his old friend Sojiro that he would protect his sons many years ago. When he arrived, the Shimada Castle was under attack from the omnic uprising, and he witnessed his friend die in order to save his only son present, Genji, who was already damaged from the attacks.
Heartbroken, Gabe took the teen Shimada, however close to death he was, back to base, and demanded him rebuilt as a cyborg. Due to his trauma, Genji can't remember much, and treats Reyes as a father figure, assisting him wherever possible, although not on major missions.
With this somewhat over-protectiveness in mind, and the relationship between the two, everything seems to slowly fall.
But will it hit rock bottom?
