This is a poem I wrote for my World Lit class. The assignment was the write a found poem based on the story "Shooting an Elephant" by George Orwell. A found poem is when you only use words used by the original author(which I followed loosely lol). "Shooting an Elephant" was written in 1936 and Orwell tells the real story of how his job as a British Imperial Officer led to him shooting an innocent elephant to impress the natives of Burma. It is a really good short story and I suggest you all go read it:) Enjoy!! Please comment some constructive criticisms and let me know if you like it!

PROLOGUE My name is Alex Kahill. On July 15, 2017, I killed a person, but am not accused of murder. However, I am being hunted by those who hold me responsible for this death...and most certainly, these folks fully intend to terminate my life. Three months ago, my life was actually better than good. I was taking a personal sabbatical in picturesque Western New York, doing three things that I dearly love. (1) Riding my bike (2) Flying my drone and (3) Visiting my son, Ben, who was interning as an environmental reporter for the Chautauqua Daily, a local paper serving the Chautauqua Institution. Better than good. And then out of nowhere, my existence went to shit. You know, the killing thing. So I'm writing this journal as a cry for help. In an effort to make some sense of the tragic events that have recently unfolded in my life, I'm hoping that if enough light is shed on what happened to me, my potential demise might literally become "troublesome" for those who would do me harm...maybe I'm just being naive, but it's worth a shot. At this point, I don't really have much to lose. I am no writer, so please bear with me. But know that I am totally vulnerable, so I'll try to be thorough as I tell my story. Princess Gold, the second oldest. Princess Funneh, the middle child. Princess Lunar, the second youngest. And Prince Draco, the youngest. Once the first child of every kingdom turns 18, they must marry a prince/princess to take over their Kingdom. When princess Rainbow turned 18, she married Prince Senpai and went with him to his Kingdom. With that being said, Princess Gold's 18th birthday is coming quickly. She must chose between 3 different Prince's to marry. She has a choice between Prince, Prince Kyran, or Prince Alec. Gold dosent want to marry either but what if she falls in love? English GCSE AQA: Comprehensive Analysis of the Power and Conflict Poems
I decided to make a book on all the Power and Conflict poems for the English GCSE exams. NOTE: This book's analyses are very long and wordy due to much information from different sources. Although they are segmented, some may not find too much comfortable, so I've linked main the main resources I've gotten and have attached video analyses from mrbruff, a youtuber known for analyses. Sources are from multiple websites (e.g. BBC.com, madameanglaise.wordpress.com, poemanalysis.com, shmoop.com), which I have combined to make the ultimate revision book pretty much, so please don't get angry at me for copying.
