"Leave her alone, Drake." Jamie spoke without thinking, and his own voice sounded strange. He just barely registered the girl's surprised expression before Drake's fist met Jamie's face. He winced, expecting pain, but the throbbing began to subside until it disappeared almost entirely. Pressing something hard into his hand, Jamie realized she had found his glasses. The frames were bent and the glass had cracked. Jamie groaned. "I really should get some contacts."

"Or at least trying to. I'll be on my way." With that, I grabbed my backpack, turned my back to them, and walked away.
