It's the 25th annual Hunger Games, and the survival of her innocent District 2 family is all resting on the shoulders of young Kara Marion. It should be an honour for her to participate in the Games and fulfil her legacy, but when she stumbles upon a lethal secret, the Capitol is suddenly thrusted into a new light. Who will become her ally, and who will stab her in the back? Even with the odds wavering in her favour, will she be able to make it through the looming Quarter Quell? Giving up is not an option, and Kara knows she has to win, not only for her survival, but to save the lives of everyone she loves. I own the characters and story plot, but Panem, the Hunger Games, and likewise ideas are properties of Suzanne Collins.

When Kira Blackwood's name is reaped, she knows she's screwed. How is she supposed to survive in a fight to death with twenty-three other tributes, all of whom want to get out alive as much as she does? Not to mention, the thought of killing somebody twists her stomach into all sorts of unnatural shapes. Despite secretly training for the Games in the cow pastures surrounding her home, and being pretty handy with a knife, Kira's kind heart may be the thing that holds her back the most. However, as she navigates through the opulent world of the Capitol, and then the arena itself, Kira starts to realize that maybe, just maybe, it's not the dead she should pity, but the Victor. After all, no one ever really wins the Hunger Games. Survives, sure. But wins? Never. ~~+~~ Please Note: This is set in a world where the 2nd Rebellion failed. All usurpers were executed (except those pesky star-crossed lovers, who knows where they ran off to), District 13 was destroyed for good (but District 12 was rebuilt, on the basis that the Capitol realized that it actually really needed coal), and the Hunger Games were reinstated. Disclaimer: I don't own any of the rights to the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, or to the Lionsgate adaptation of her books. (Obviously.) All characters of my creation are copyrighted. ~~+~~ Thank you so much for reading this, it really means so much to me!!! :) I hope you enjoy, and love it as much as I do! (Also sorry for the length, I sort have this thing for details... and long, run-on sentences... and long, run-on sentences stuffed with details...) Please note: This story is technically incomplete, bc I still want to write a few more scenes after the Games like the interviews and stuff, maybe of the Victory Tour, but I've marked it as complete bc...school. Ain't no way that I'm finishing this anytime soon. Hopefully I'll get back around to it eventually.
