That's one thing I'd always agree with my father on. The people who really mattered to you always came first. He'd always say that if the person felt the same way about you, they'd deny letting you put them first. Because you were first in their minds.

Love wasn't normal, he told me. Full of contradictions and emotional warfare. Love was a battlefield, and if you died fighting you did something right. As long as you were fighting the right enemy. My mother said that there was a difference between fighting love and fighting for love.

I never thought of fighting love and love never drafted me to fight. I showed up, and there was a treaty already set up-restrictions and all-, all I had to do was sign it. The only issue was, the other person took a while to allow love to give me the treaty. Like the words were there, but scrambled. I couldn't sign a scrambled document- I had to wait for them to rearrange the letters.
