Your grandmother had just died
You were close to her, so of course you were devastated, but your mother was even more so
She got sick from grief.. so sick, in fact that she has collapsed and was taken to the hospital.
Your mother hasn't woken up yet
It doesn't help that your father left you after you were born, and with your mother being an only child and your grandpa having died years ago, you were left all alone until your mother wakes up
