Fatal Bullet follows the events of Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization and takes place in Gun Gale Online, a game released by Zaskar following the advent of The Seed. 

After coming back to Kawagoe City, Yuuta Tendou, a young boy with a major love for video games, gets an email from his childhood friend, Kureha. 

After logging in, Yuuta meets the top player in GGO, Itsuki, and one of the best players from SAO, Kirito, after he jumps in to defend a mysterious person from his attack.

Once the misunderstandings are clear, he meets the rest of the group and gets to know his senpai VR players, and also bonds with Kirito, while unwilling gaining the attention of the top player and leader of Alphard.

The story focuses on Kirito waking up after beating the death game of "Sword Art Online" and learning that Asuna isn't awake, yet. Not being able to handle the guilt, he loses all of the swagger and confidence that he once had in the original game. Kirito learns that Asuna is in a different VR world and with the help of his friends and sister, he must save Asuna from a threat unlike anything that he faced in the original "Sword Art Online."
