Shadowkit and Lightkit are about as similar as night and day. Shadowkit is determined to be the best warrior FrostClan has ever seen, while Lightkit wants to be the best medicine cat in Clan history. Shadowkit is fascinated by battles, while Lightkit would rather fix the damage. Shadowkit is bold and confident and not afraid of anything. Lightkit is sweet and quiet and prefers to retreat to the safety of the medicine den. In spite of everything, the sisters love each other no matter what.

But the horrifying truth about their parentage is revealed suddenly: The father is the horrible ShadeClan leader, Ravenstar, and their mother is Feathershine of FrostClan.

Suddenly, Shadowkit is stuck in ShadeClan and must put up with her father's harsh behavior towards his Clanmates, and Lightkit is mistrusted and avoided in FrostClan.
