If I had simply gone with my original plan, there’d be no story to tell. I would have lived a good, normal life. But I didn’t. I went on my hike, and I fell asleep, leaning my head into the base of an unidentified tree while the birds serenaded me and the various scents of late summer drifted in and out of my nostrils.
