"Maybe being quiet is good?" He whispers as he tilts his down, looking at me with those blue eyes.

"You think so?" I question leaning a little closer to him, feeling his breath feather against my skin. His eyes flicker down to my lips and back to mine. He places his hand under my chin and tilts my head up.

"I know so."  and those soft words, his lips were on mine.

Joy can't speak. She has vocal cord paralysis. She gets bullied for her condition at school. She tries to find ways to cope with it as well as live alone with her older brother. A lot of secrets are withheld from Joy as she tries to live a normal life. Her life is thrown around when a certain quiet boy offers her help.

Hayden is popular. He has it all: the looks, the money, the fame... . Yet, he doesn't talk. He chooses not to talk for a reason. His friends like to bully people who are lesser than them. Until one day when his world collides with another quiet person.
