Valcore - The Ancient's Rise
Hayden Valcore and Sophia Carter plan a hiking trip shortly after their high school graduation. While in the mountains, Hayden blacks out and wakes up in an old deer shed as he's turning into a Vampire, with no recollection of his past. Sophia's been kidnapped and while a high-profile coven takes him in to integrate him into their way of life, he learns how to fly, how to hunt, and how to deal with the struggle of trying to control his new dark side... He is now an ancient vampire, fighting the clock to figure out his past and save Sophia before it's too late.
Excerpt: "As the van pulled in I was inching forward, ready to jump. "Wait," said Derek. Roxy was making sure everyone in the van was on the list, she had her eyes closed, concentrating, perfectly still. When she was finished she looked at Derek, and nodded once, "Okay--" but before he could say 'Go' I was already in the air, as fast as I could, like a black jacket slingshotted from the roof into the car, I flew straight through the passenger side window. The van jerked back and forth a few times as blood splattered the inside of the windows. There were a few muffled gunshots, then everything went still."
