Humans or let's go with everyone gets assigned an angel when they turn the age of thirteen. Of course 13, that's when people get vulnerable to demons.
Once the person finds love, the angel has done it's job and they are no longer vulnerable to demons.
However, the person does not know about the angel, of course.
They are invisible to the human eye. The angel is only there when the person does not know, holding you so that you do not get night terrors. Turning bad days to good ones and bringing in people to love you.
They are all what's good in the world.

You may still like this even if you don't like fantasy. It's more like a normalization of angelic humans. There's plenty of gay adorableness and cuddles. Based in a world in which everyone is an angel and must earn an ability not inherited through family. It seems random but it's not in the slightest. Each matches ones personality. Finding this trait also gets you your wings, which is what every young cherub strives to earn. It's a crazy world where anything can happen. Encluding a rather odd pair. Pepper is a 15 year old wingless. The last one in his whole grade. Everyone picks on him and hates him for it, but he especially hates himself for it. He lives with his dad that does nothing but abuse him, and he has the biggest identity crisis you'll ever see. Then he meets the gyrokenetic boy Robin.
