It was never something he wanted. He didn't actually choose this for himself but having a crazy father does things to you. Lost his mother at 8 to a car accident, he had only his mad scientist dad to take care of him. When he was diagnosed with leukemia age 9, his father brought him home telling Damian that he would cure him. And then the experiments started. His father changed him but he didn't know it until years later in his final year in high school.
