"Why do you like bugs so much?" Christian asked as they walked through the woods.
"Why do you like crowds so much?" Addison asked as he bent down to pick up a beetle. Christian inhaled sharply and looked away. Addison looked up and frowned slightly.
"I'm sorry, do you want to-"
"No, it's okay. I like crowds because it makes me feel less alone." Addison looked up at Christian thoughtfully, his blue eyes locking with Christian's hazel ones.
"That is the exact reason I like bugs so much."
Noun
entomophilia (uncountable)

A fondness for insects.
Addison Stevenson is an entomophiliac. He has been for his entire life. His mom supports this obsession 100% and even bought a three bedroom house to allow him to study bugs and do experiments.
However, because of this obsession, Addison is deemed highly unapproachable, and the fact that he goes to a school with a very low population of gay students doesn't help. Addison thinks that no one will ever date him and he will never have a chance with any guy.
Until he meets Christian.
Christian has entomophobia, but is an ochlophiliac (ochlophilia: a love of crowds and crowded spaces). Coincidentally, Addison has agoraphobia (agoraphobia: a fear of crowds or crowded spaces)
Addison is determined to overcome his agoraphobia, and Christian is determined to overcome his entomophobia. Learning more about each other, they try to help each other through some non-professional exposure therapy.
And of course, a little bit of gay romance.
