THIS IS THE OLDER VERSION OF PARALLEL

'I stare at my reflection in the mirror. My matted red hair, pale skin, and ironically, bright green eyes. They are the last remaining hint of my once carefree personality. A sign that Michael will never break me... '

Aleksandra grew up in the nation of Herakleum. Kill to survive. Thats the unspoken rule. With both parents dead and an abusive step-father and step-brother, there is nothing left for her. Until the recruitment ceremony.
Each year, all 19 year olds have to survive two and a half days in the woods, awaiting ambushes, bombings, and firing squads. Whoever survives unscathed is welcomed into society. The rest, are cast out. Surviving the recruitment ceremony means Aleksandra will have to live the rest of her life under her step-fathers rule. Not surviving means death. Death means she failed, both her parents and herself. And that is the last thing she wants to do.

[Book Two of The Phantom Saga] PG18+ Status: Completed [November 29, 2021]/Editing In Process "I'm fine" is an automatic response everyone is so used to saying when asked if they're okay. Even a dying person would lie in a hospital gurney and tell their loved one, "I'm fine," just before they're pushed into an Operation Room. A depressed high schooler will tell their friends and families, "I'm fine," up until the point of having life ending thoughts and bringing it to reality. The look in a framed convict's eyes as they're being lead away after a sentencing will tell their people, "I'm fine," although they were given life without parole. What if they had spoken up? Would the outcome be different? Maybe, maybe not. Who knows? Alessia Moskal wasn't dying, she wasn't suicidal and she wasn't framed. She wanted out of the life she was living and she managed to change that in a short span of time. It must have costed her something. However, that something didn't phase her. It was a simple transfer from one cage to the next. She didn't get her freedom, but at least she's not being dragged on a leash anymore. Right, Petro? "Katya Sharpe," he tuts, "I knew I should've searched harder for you..." Sitting on the window sill of his office, she smirks at his remark. The sun isn't as bright as it was before, falling behind a thick huddle of clouds, but the wind whisks through her loose, curly, strawberry blonde hair, lifting the light strands and cascading them over her shoulders. "Yes, you should've." She states, "Nevertheless, you still wouldn't have found me since having your blood on my hands is apparently my destiny." "You won't get away with this." "Yes," a smirk twitches at the left corner of her mouth as she flicks the safety off her pistol, dangling it in the light, "Yes I will." Warning: The WHOLE story MAY be triggersome. My mother always told me when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. When someone knocks you down, you get right back up. You fight the good fight until you have nothing left. You fight with honor, you protect the ones you love, and if you just happen to die in the process, than you do so with dignity and grace. What my mother neglected to tell me during my studies was that you don't always get what you want, the outcome you think is coming doesn't always happen, and when the smoke clears, you're always going to be the last one standing. By the end of The Certainty, Georgiana Vertigo is left with nothing more than her life, something many people would be more than happy to have. However, Georgiana is left to her own devices in a strange city, alone and heartbroken with regular intense bouts of depression. In starting a new life with the Guild, Georgiana has everything she needs in order to move on with her life and keep her mind off the past. Only problem is, the past is never truly forgotten and no matter how hard you try to shake them, the feelings that go along with the memories don't just fade away. ~ * ~ Alright, chickens. You asked for it (some of you at least) and here it is...well...part of it. Like I've told a few of you, this is a work in progress. I add pieces to it when I think of them. The posting on this story will NOT be regular but thankfully for you, I have quite a bit of it done. I just haven't decided if the path I take it down is the right one. So. I hope you enjoy it and I will give you a forewarning that as the story progresses, it gets a bit more adult. For those of us just joining the party because they stumbled across it in the Paranormal category, there is a whole series of books you have to read until you get to this one. Go start with The Beginning. You can find it under "My Works" on my home page.

CRINGE WARNING! First book I ever wrote on here!! -- "Sometimes the person who you are willing to take a bullet for is the person behind the gun." I stood peering over the cold lifeless body that lay before my eyes. I had always thought of death the enemy, but right now, I blessed it upon the person who is now at peace. Sometimes you don't need to be the smartest, or the fastest, but you do need to be wisest. They say the blood runs deeper than water, and I believe it, because even though the people that we love can turn on us and begin to hate us, they are only human, meaning that soon they will begin to see how short life really is and how it is not to be wasted. People who seem perfect and they look like they have no floors'; they are the people who are suffering, like I was. But I found my savior in the most uncommon place. He was able to look through my mask, he saw the cracks, and tried to fix the broken girl that hid away deep inside the girl who only wanted to be seen as 'fine'. I slowly began to find comfort and safety in him, and I did the same to him. We were two broken people becoming whole. Someone once said when you pass, if you can count your true friends on one hand you are beyond lucky, and I even though I did not like the person that lay before me, I know that he once had true friends, including me. I'm a 17 year old girl who has suffered more than any other, beginning to believe that 'Hope' was just another word the people throw around. Until I fell in love with a badboy. Instead of excepting her with open arms, he rejects her. Broken and hurt Lexi runs away. There's no going back. Lexi's new pack is good for her, but when they have to return, will Alex's rejection hold? Or will he want her back. Disclaimer: not the best I wrote it when I was like like 13 and tried to go back and edit it when I was older but it's still kinda rough!
