What if Claire hadn't gone to Craigh na Dun?

The year is 2018 and twenty-two year old a American, Hannah Sayre, takes a trip to her maternal ancestral home in Scotland to clear her mind after a recent tragedy. Exploring in the company of her cousin, Iain MacDougall, the two decide to travel deep into the Highlands to Inverness, having heard the legends surrounding what she calls, "A bunch of rocks" which are known as Craigh na Dun.  In a moment of curiosity, Hannah trails behind her cousin so that she can continue exploring before stopping and touching the cleft stone. Suddenly, she hears a buzzing sound and loses consciousness, waking up in a time before her own. She finds herself thrust into a war and under the watchful eyes of clans MacKenzie and Fraser. Will she return home or does history have other plans for her?

She discovers there is a ring of stones (called a menhir, if you care to learn about such things) outside of town, so she decides to go and explore. What she finds delights her, not only a henge (a stone ring) but remains of tomb mounds and she spends a happy afternoon exploring it. Just before she decides to head back to town, she lays down, unwittingly, in the shadow of a tall stone. She wakes, realizing not only had she fallen asleep, but now she discovers that something is amiss--she may not even be in her own time. Even worse, she can hear the sound of men and horses...and realizes she is trapped and has nowhere to run. Fortunately, she stumbles across a young Highlander named Jamie Fraser who helps her hide. Together they spend the night in a tomb, but when she finds out that Jamie is on the run, she insists that he leave, and she will act as bait to enable him to make his getaway. This is not your usual "Outlander" story. A good portion is OC orientated, with Jamie making appearances and then vanishing from the story until he re-appears. Even though it causes HIM to become a "Sasanaich", if one uses the definition of "outlander", having his Life saved sets the stage for a long, fruitful Life. Well, that's as long as he doesn't STILL manage to get himself killed after making the voyage to the New World, that is...
