With Despair or Euphoria is the first book of two. It's about two eighteen year olds who grew up together and have been sharing something unusual since then. Separated, they experience the extreme emotions of Despair or Euphoria.
The one makes them painfully aware of the absurdity of their flawed existence, the other puts them in a blur causing them to do and say whatever comes to their carefree minds.
The only way to feel balanced and think clearly is to be connected, either on the phone or in person. When they separate once more, they swap the emotions.
With that, Cassandra, whose only family is her mum, tries to overcome the nagging feeling of loneliness by becoming famous. She sacrifices her grades in school and the idea of going to university to attend singing classes, acting groups and auditions.
While Ash has a difficult relationship with his parents, he wants to be a better parent and mentor. He'd like to become a teacher and after falling deeply in love with his classmate Randi, he dreams about raising children with him. Despair and Euphoria stand in their way though, until a man from the past shows up. He claims that the existence of Despair and Euphoria is his fault and that he's able to stop it once and for all. But to what cost?
